Background

She was born and raised in Miami, Florida. Attended grammar and high school in Miami-Dade County, Florida. Attended and graduated from Miami Dade Community College in 1985 majoring in Pre-Law. Immediately, thereafter attended Florida International University in 1985, majoring in Political Science and subsequently graduated in 1987.

Training

Started Thomas M. Cooley Law School in Lansing, Michigan in May of 1990, graduating with a Juris Doctorate degree in December of 1992. Became a member of the Florida Bar subsequently thereafter in July, 1993. A member in good standing of the Florida Bar continuously since that time.

Experience

Years 1990-1992, was selected and invited to participate in the "Sixty Plus" Elder Law Clinic Internship program in Lansing, Michigan, engaged in providing low cost legal services to the elderly community. Handled matters such as guardianships, conservatorships, estate planning, hearings and contracts. Was also involved in at least 20 Guardian Ad Litem proceedings and provided legal counseling to the elderly clients.

Years 1991-1992 was selected and invited to participate in the State of Michigan Appellate Defender's internship program, engaged in providing pro bono appeals to indigent criminal defendants in the State of Michigan.

Vice President of the Thomas M. Cooley Law School Hispanic Law Society. As Co-founder of this organization, was instrumental in developing the Hispanic Law Society into a viable student organization at Thomas M. Cooley Law School.

Year 1993 to present, Vice President of Spiegel & Utrera, PA. Has engaged in the active full time practice of law with emphasis on corporate, business, intellectual property and real property matters. During this period has formed numerous Florida Corporations, limited liability companies, limited partnerships, general partnerships, and sole proprietorships.
